T. LoPresti1910 – 1973

About this site

Thomas LoPresti died in 1973. His grandson Rich was born five years later, so the two never met. What Rich inherited instead were the boxes: thousands of sketches, doodles, paintings and watercolors, letters, show notices, and the sketchbooks, first from his father Richard and then from his uncle Tommy, who kept the portrait of Filippa and the painting of the USS Alabama on his wall until he died.

This site is the estate's home. Everything on it is scanned from an original the family holds. It replaces an earlier site built around the NFT project of 2021–23; that record is kept on the Collectors page, and the old address, tlopnft.art, still works.

The work is not finished. Hundreds of pieces are scanned; thousands are not. Letters and clippings from the basement are being read and dated. If you knew Tom, or own a painting of his — he sold and gave away work for forty years — we would like to hear from you.

Giving

Tom's own wish, written on a memo in 1968, was that his work be seen. The family's is that it also do some good. A share of every sale from this site supports youth arts programs at the Milford Arts Council in Milford, Connecticut, where Rich serves on the board. The exact share is published with the shop when it opens.

Using his work

You are welcome to share images from this site for personal, educational or editorial use, with the credit “Thomas J. LoPresti, courtesy of the LoPresti family” and a link back. For prints, licensing, exhibitions or reproduction in any product, please ask first. Anything made with AI in his style is not his work and will never be sold as such.
